EIBCC Stories (Sydney Millage)

Name: Sydney Millage

Ministry Role and Place: Biblical Counselor in practice Member/Youth leaders; Deacon’s wife at Faith Baptist Church of Iowa City Executive; Director of Clarity in Action Ministries.

Role/Responsibilities/What you enjoy on the Core Team:

When the EIBCC started, I had just attended the BCTC in Lafayette twice. I am one of the founding members, was the secretary for a short period of time, otherwise I’ve helped and done everything from picking up donuts to teaching.

When did you begin serving on the EIBCC Core Team?

August 29, 2013 was our first meeting at the coffee house in Swisher, IA. It was Dave Kirk, Jason Poling, Robin Werling, Trisha Young, and myself.

Why did you want to serve on the Core Team of the EIBCC?

We weren’t sure what was going to happen, but I wanted to be part of a local biblical counseling group.

How have you been blessed by the EIBCC?

The EIBCC is where I meet, minister, and am challenged by others who love Jesus and His people. It is an opportunity to fellowship with believers from our geographical area, exchange insights, resources, and encouragement.

How has your church been blessed by the EIBCC?

I have the opportunity to teach from a biblical counseling resource each spring for our ladies Bible study.

Favorite memory you have about the EIBCC?

Sweet fellowship at the Swisher coffee shop for the years we met there.

What is a struggle the EIBCC has gone through and how did God provide?

Location changes–from Swisher to Grace to the hotel, back to Grace Community Church.

How would you like to see the EIBCC grow in the future?

I would love for us to have a greater impact on the churches in our area and for them to see the benefit of biblical counseling in the local church.

Bonus Question: How can the EIBCC be praying for you?

I would appreciate prayers for endurance, walking through difficult situations with a Christ-focus, and personal priorities and time management with a growing, changing family, and direction and financial provision for Clarity in Action Ministries.
